Meira has worked with buildOn for 4 years starting off as a Program Coordinator in the Bronx. Over the past few years she also held roles as Program Manager and Senior Program Manager within the Bronx, NY Region across several schools. Meira is passionate about promoting social justice and equity within the non-profit and educational sector. She believes that systemic change is possible through an intersectional lens, and youth can be the change agents when provided with the adequate social emotional skills and role models. Her life experience within South America, South East Asia, New York and prior work experience within New York City across the boroughs influence her intention and impact of advocacy work.
Meira is excited to bring her skill sets and experience to Boston and Bridgeport as the new Program Director overseeing and supporting the staff, students, schools, and all stakeholders involved with programming in both cities.
Fun fact:Meira had a goldfish she won at a Carnival named Clementine that lived for 17 years!
Carolyn Roach
Carolyn is both Central and harding high school's student engagement specialist! Carolyn was born and raised in Bridgeport, ct and she is also a central buildon alum! She recently joined the buildOn team September 2020.
buildon shaped Carolyn to believe strongly in servant leadership. She volunteered though americorps, scholar athletes and Springfield college partners program. these volunteer programs gave her the opportunities to work with elementary students, high school students and high school athletes in academics, athletics and mentorship.
carolyn's passion in servant leadership, mentoring/working with youth and maintaining an active/healthy lifestyle led her to getting her b.s in movement and sport studies (minored in athletic coaching) and m.ed in physical education with a concentration in athletic administration from springfield college.
