What is Trek for Knowledge?

Trek is once in a life time opportunity to travel overseas to build a school in one of our partner countries (Haiti, Mali, Malawi, Nepal, Nicaragua, Senegal and Burkina Faso).  buildOn’s has sent thousands of students on trek since our first Trek in 1999.  We have also built over 645 schools overseas. 
  • Students will:
    • Take part in cultural workshops to learn more about the community they are calling “home”
    • Work alongside community members in the construction of a school 
    • Live in the community with a host family. 
  • Who can apply?  
    • ANY Freshmen, Sophomore, or Junior member of buildOn
  • How much does it cost?
    • buildOn covers ALL expenses EXCEPT: passport cost, medical consultations/immunization, supplies students might need on trek (water bottles, sleeping bag, insect repellent, sunscreen, etc) and transport to and from the airport here in the US and to Pre/Post Trek events. ​

Where do we build schools?

buildOn helps communities to build schools in some of the most economically poor nations in the world. We do this by empowering community members to volunteer and build the school together. Therefore this is not charity work- it is solidarity.
